buddy's soul
has a hole
so big

his soul was
as resistent
as much control
as yours

and now the sweet tenor voice keeps
screamin' ... "stop! ....
i cannot sing no more about it
"
as
the beat continues cuttime imprecision

and the sound unravels
slow dull singin' wild scissoring songs

sharp
and
inconsolable

thanks CoZ!

yeah, i love jazz. and i am also a player (guitar player, a classically trained pop musician, sort of ) ... and well, i'm not really a jazz musician, ( i don't know 1500 standards or anything) but i can dabble.

... only started writing a couple years ago -- with some encouragement from some e-writers i met -- when i was injured and couldn't play. Provided a consolation, another outlet for me. So music is a often big theme in my writing too.

Gotta love those blessings in disguise, eh?

dmg,

Very cool! My father was a rock/blues guitarist back in the 60s. He jammed with a few big names and had a lot of potential for a career in music, but he went on to do other things.

Who is your favorite jazz artist?

Coltrane.

funny how there's a simple answer to that ...there hardly ever is to "favorite" questions, you know? ... but Coltrane gets to me especially, as great as so many jazz artists are, it's kinda almost a personal thing, maybe ...

Yep, I like Coltrane a lot too; also Charlie "The Bird" Parker and Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis. Davis is my favorite, though, especially his underrated last album, "Doo Bop." Also "Round About Midnight" and "Bitch's Brew."
