Wow!  Like man, I'm not worthy!  I am amazed by it Call of Zion.  Your ID is appropo.  The voice calling from the desert.  The Cross.  In a child's innocent grasp.  It's an epic. Joyous.  Real as dirt.  Awesome and unbelievable love.

"Here beyond all knowledge,
You need only understand,
That I knew your name before the world began"

It's long, that's for sure, but man what a journey!  It BEATS!  I had fun reading it out loud listening to my voice bring it to life.  I expect I will get alot out of it each time I read.  It's spiritual in the correct sense that it's about inner sight.  Thank you so much for posting it.

[Quote]Who was the pilgrim,
Caught in a spider’s web,
Of thoughts,
And wisdom,
And
Knowledge
Caught like a fly,
In Holy Desire
But dangled by a string,
Above hellfire [Quote]

Wow, sounds like a battle about what faith is.  Who God is.  Who are we and how do we act?  Holy Desire turned to a hellish existence.  What is the answer pilgram?  Love the flow Yoda.  There is so much here.

Meela, thanks for the insight! It always amazes me when someone "gets something" out of my writing that I didn't even know was there. I had never looked at the line about "holy desire... hellfire" in that way, but it sure makes sense. Thanks!

Oooooooooh my friend.  There is a lot there!  I'm having a great time re-reading it.  It echos in me.  Some great imagery.  Starts out being sort of a poem from the days of King Authur...or the Kings of this or that...but then talks about the true King and the humbling it takes to be that kind of Royalty.

Kicks ass.

LOL, thanks Meela; you have a better perspective on this poem than I do! It is actually part of a six other poems, but this is the one that I poured my heart into. The others range from terrible to mediocre, but I will post them up later so you have the context.

wow! that's scope and ambition and depth of theme! Brave, (like Meela or anyone else is for attempting a novel. Long forms seem so hard to me.)

Particularly liked the end, Section V ...this snip ...

There are
Mountains
Represented in every grain of sand
And Children Divine,
Represented in every man

yeh, i hear you there ...

and this stanza ...

A child’s voice teaches you,
That what you have sought to ascend to
Has
Itself
Descended
First to the branches of the tree,
And then lower still,
Until it falls within the palms of your hands
Still wrapped in mist and infinitely unapproachable

... wow. "wrapped in mist" .. "clouds"

I'm reminded abit of TS Eliot?
